I'd like to add that this was my FIRST TIME JAMMING in a bout, and did not LOL one bit when Marie hit me.

Yes, it was a Major and she went straight to the box...however, that did not make it hurt any less.
I accidentally skated backwards when trying to do a Johnny Crash. It was a major and I sat in the box. Just because it's a WFTDA 4.0 rule doesn't mean things like that don't happen.

the last time i remember...roller derby HURTS i agree with the person above me, if it doesn't hurt you aren't doing it right...
You want to have your forearms/hands in a better place before doing a Johnny Crash/Sheriff/Can Opener/whatever else it's called.
I disagree.. From the video you aren't skating counter-clockwise to block. You are skating at an angle from the side, get = to her and laterally move straight into the shot. The arm IS a bit high, however from the picture you can tell the elbow is bent and tucked, and the impact is started from the shoulder.
Looks legal to me in slower motion/caption, though if you look at the receivers 'hands' she is counter blocking with her hands and forearms.

To be honest, my bad for not seeing you coming, Marie. I truthfully did not know the hit was illegal at the time (and after i was able to breathe again thought it was pretty awesome). However, after being told it was a major, and looking at the score (we were losing by a lot and the bout was almost over) and noting that the opposing jammer had lapped me like 3 times...well, the hit seemed a little douchy. That's all I'm saying. But I'm over it. See you at ECE 10:00 am Irish vs. Italians... Pred
